You can advance in the office and still make it work at home if you are just committed enough to your career. That is the mantra that many powerful women grew up with and have sought to pass to the next generation. Then, in July 2012, Anne-Marie Slaughter challenged that logic with her groundbreaking article, “Why Women Still Can’t Have it All.”
Women are making progress at the top, even if very slowly. But what about women in the middle and at the bottom of the income scale? In 1970 Gloria Steinem called for a feminism that would build bridges across race and class, that would lift all women. Thirty-five years later, what kind of progress have we made? Have we broadened the movement to be more inclusive of modern families? How has the conversation about work, life, family and women’s leadership permeated historically inflexible offices and nontraditional work environments?
Join ¹ú²úÊÓƵ President and CEO Anne-Marie Slaughter and other experts for a discussion about how far we are from making the integration of work and life a reality for Americans regardless of race or class.
