Over the past four years, Delaware has been building a PreK-12 education system that includes an early childhood focus with substantial education reforms. Under Governor Jack Markell’s leadership, Delaware won grants from the first round of Race to the Top and the Early Learning Challenge, expanded access to high-quality early childhood programs for at-risk students, developed a new Early Childhood Strategic Plan, began a World Language program, established higher entry standards for new teachers, and updated its law governing charter schools. The state is also busy implementing the Common Core State Standards that Gov. Markell played a lead role in creating.
These are big steps. How is Delaware able to put it all together? Join the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ Foundation’s Education Policy Program, Governor Markell and Delaware education officials for a conversation on what it takes to align education policy from birth to high school graduation and beyond.
