OTI and Public Knowledge filed urging the Federal Communications Commission to reject Axon Enterprise鈥檚 request for a waiver that would enable it to advertise three investigation and surveillance devices to law enforcement agencies, despite the fact that these devices would operate in the heavily used U-NII-3 band of spectrum (5.725鈥5.850 GHz) at higher power levels than permitted by FCC rules.
According to OTI and Public Knowledge, the products Axon has proposed 鈥渨ould be unnecessarily disruptive to the public鈥檚 use of the U-NII-3 band, which remains the most heavily-trafficked Wi-Fi spectrum and almost certainly the most intensively used frequency band nationwide.鈥 Granting a waiver for this technology 鈥渨ould have a disproportionately negative impact on low-income communities,鈥 the groups added.
