Luke Hartig
Fellow, Future Security
Luke Hartig is a fellow in 国产视频's Future Security program, with a research specialization in counterterrorism. He is also executive director of National Journal's Network Science Initiative, a research effort that helps groups better understand the entire terrain of voices around public policy issues.
Prior to his current roles, Hartig聽served as Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council (NSC), where he was responsible for advising White House leadership on counterterrorism matters, co-managing the NSC鈥檚 counterterrorism policy and analysis team, and coordinating U.S. government counterterrorism policy and programs.聽Hartig聽previously served as the deputy director for counterterrorism operations and as a foreign affairs specialist in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.聽Hartig聽has also served in various national security positions with the State Department, Office of Management and Budget, Government Accountability Office, and U.S. Forces Afghanistan.聽Hartig began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala.
Hartig聽holds a master鈥檚 in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a B.A. in international relations from Boston University. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a fellow with the Truman National Security Project, and was named a Next Generation National Security Leader by the Center for a 国产视频n Security in 2013.
Hartig聽lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two sons.
