Will Hunt, National Fellow

Will Hunt is a nonfiction writer. He is the author of Underground (Random House, 2019), an investigation of humanity鈥檚 ancient and intimate connection to subterranean spaces. His writing on landscape, memory, cultural heritage, and our relationship to the deep past has appeared in the New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Atavist, The Guardian, and elsewhere. He has received grants and awards from the Thomas J. Watson Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, and MacDowell.

His current book project, a work of narrative nonfiction for Random House entitled Bones, explores the power of the ancestral dead鈥攖heir bodies, bones, and burial grounds鈥攖o shape contemporary culture and politics.
